Subclass 407 Training Visa Sponsorship
How to sponsor and nominate for the 407 Training Visa
A subclass 407 Training visa applicant needs to be nominated by an Australian sponsor who must be an approved Temporary Activities sponsor.
The 407 Training visa covers three types of occupational training:
-
- Work place training required for registration
- Structured workplace training to improve skills in an eligible occupation
- Training that promotes capacity in a foreign country. This can be a part of an overseas qualification, government support or professional development.
Step one. The Temporary Activities sponsor nominates the candidate
The sponsor will need to provide details of the proposed training program, the position, skills, qualification and experience required for the position, and the person nominated to fill the position.
If you are writing from a National Australian Government agency you do not need to submit a nomination. Instead you need to provide a letter confirming the agency agree to be the sponsor and details about the type, location and length of the training.
Salary documents
The 407 training visa nomination needs to include a copy of the training contract if the occupational trainees are being paid. Wages should be in line with Australian laws.
If the role is unpaid, include Form 1283 – Acknowledgement of unpaid placement – for the visa applicant and Form 1284 for the sponsor.
Training documents
You will need to provide:
a copy of the training contract, including the salary if the 407 visa applicant is an employee;

The letter should confirm that the person nominated for the training and state that thenominated training is necessary for the 407 training visa nominee to get registration or licensing to work in the occupation.
Accompany this letter with the nominee’s CV and existing relevant qualifications.
Health Practitioners:
If you are a health practitioner treating patients as part of your occupational training, you will need to have a letter from the relevant registration authority or from the regulatory body confirming that the 407 visa nominee has conditional registration for training.
Occupational training to improve skills in a recognised occupation:
You will need to supply a copy of the nominee’s CV and a copy of the structured workplace-bsaed training program. The program should include an assessment of the training visa nominee’s current skill level; tailored training analysis and learning outcomes that includes how they will be assessed;
