Subclass 407 Training Visa Sponsorship
Subclass 407 Training visa applicants need to be nominated by an Australian sponsor who must be an approved Temporary Activities sponsor.

How to sponsor and nominate for the 407 Training Visa
Step one. The Temporary Activities sponsor nominates the candidate
As part of the nomination process, sponsoring employers need to prepare some supporting documents.
If you are writing from a National Australian Government agency you do not need to submit a nomination. Instead you need to provide a letter confirming the agency agree to be the sponsor and details about the type, location and length of the training.
Let’s run through the other documents needed for the nomination.
Salary documents
The 407 training visa nomination needs to include a copy of the training contract if the occupational trainees are being paid. Wages should be in line with Australian laws.
If the role is unpaid, include Form 1283 – Acknowledgement of unpaid placement – for the visa applicant and Form 1284 for the sponsor.
Training documents
You will need to provide:
a copy of the training contract, including the salary if the 407 visa applicant is an employee;
details of the time and places of the training. Include details of the on-the-job training as well as classroom based training and supervised work activities;
a statement confirming the 407 training visa nominee has functional English language skills to undertake the training;
copies of the nominee’s registration or license needed for the training.

Occupational Training for Registration:
If occupational training is required for registration, provide a letter from the occupation’s relevant regulatory body in Australia or home country. The letter should confirm that the person nominated for the training and state that the nominated training is necessary for the 407 training visa nominee to get registration or licensing to work in the occupation.
Accompany this letter with the nominee’s CV and existing relevant qualifications.
For Health Practitioners:
If you are a health practitioner treating patients as part of your occupational training, you will need to have a letter from the relevant registration authority or from the regulatory body confirming that the 407 visa nominee has conditional registration for training.
Occupational training to improve skills in a recognized occupation:
You will need to supply:
a copy of the nominee’s CV;
a copy of the structured workplace-based training program. The program should include an assessment of the training visa nominee’s current skill level; tailored training analysis and learning outcomes that includes how they will be assessed;
time frames for the completion tasks and their escalating complexity; details of the supervisors, trainers and assessors (this can include a CV and details of their qualifications and experience)
For Health Practitioners:
If you are treating patients as part of your occupational training, you will need to have a letter from the relevant registration authority or from the regulatory body confirming that the 407 visa nominee has conditional registration for training.
Occupational training for capacity building overseas:
If the training is for capacity building overseas, you will need to provide a copy of:
the nominee’s CV and qualifications;
the work-based training program or professional development program; Work-based training program should include an assessment of the training visa nominee’s current skill level; tailored training analysis and learning outcomes that includes how they will be assessed;
time frames for the completion tasks and their escalating complexity; details of the supervisors, trainers and assessors (this can include a CV and details of their qualifications and experience).
For 407 visa nominees needing training for:
overseas qualifications – sponsors need to provide a letter from the nominee’s education provider in their home country. It should state that practical experience, research or observation is needed for the nominee’s course.
Government support – sponsors need to provide a letter of support from a government agency in Australia or the nominee’s home country. This letter should state the training promotes international capacity building.
professional development – sponsors provide:

- a signed letter from the nominee’s overseas employer. Include the nominee’s current position with the employer
- evidence of how the occupational training program will provide skills and expertise relevant to the employer’s business and the nominee’s development
- a statement confirming you are satisfied the nominee will be doing the professional development training. Also include if the nominee has relevant managerial or professional skills. Please tell us if they have the experience to participate in the program

Once all these documents have been prepared, then you can lodge the application.
The nomination application fee is paid when the application is lodged.
Step two. After you apply.
When your 407 training nomination is approved, you will receive a sponsorship application transaction reference number (TRN).
The nomination usually lasts up to 12 months.
(There are exceptions. For example, if your approval as a sponsor expires or is cancelled by the immigration department – or the day the 407 training visa applicant is granted the visa.)
As the 407 training visa sponsor, you will then need to provide the 407 visa applicant with:

- your TRN. or sponsorship application ID, if you are a Australian Commonwealth Government agency;
- your nomination application transaction reference number (TRN) or nomination application ID, if you are not a Australian Commonwealth Government agency;
- a written statement that you will meet your sponsorship obligations to the applicant and any family they include in their application;
- the invitation to participate in training, if you are an Australian Commonwealth Government agency.
