TSS 482 visa Short Term Stream
The TSS 482 visa short term stream (temporary skill shortage subclass 482) is a temporary work visa enabling the visa holder to work in Australia for 2 years, with the possibility of extending once, for an additional 2 years.
Employers can sponsor overseas skilled workers for up to two years which can be repeated. Employers can only nominate positions listed in the Short Term Skilled Occupation List.
There are ways for an employer to sponsor a 482 short term visa holder for permanent residency through Regional Skilled Migration Sponsorship.
The term of the TSS 482 short term visa can be extended to four years if an International Trade Obligation applies.
English language requirements for the TSS 482 short term stream are the same as the medium term stream. For the 482 visa, this is the equivalent to an IELTS score of 5. The English language requirement does not apply if the candidate holds a passport issued by the UK, Ireland, New Zealand, Canada or the United States or if the nominee has had 5 or more years of secondary of tertiary education conducted in English.
The government’s visa fee is from AUD 1,265.
Three quarters of short term TSS visas are processed in 5 weeks while 90% are processed in 8 weeks
