New skilled migration visas for regional areas of Australia.
From 16th of November 2019, the Australian Department of Home Affairs will introduce a new Provisional Points tested Regional visa class.
Known if full as Subclass 491 Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa. The visa is introduced to assist regional Australia with skilled workers.
The visa will supersedes the 489 skilled regional subclass. Applicants will need to be sponsored by one of Australia’s states or territories or eligible family member.
The 491 visa will be valid for 5 years and will allow the recipient to apply for permanent residency through the 191 visa subclass.
