What’s the value of the Construction Visa Subsidy?

The Construction Visa Subsidy Program is a Western Australian State Government initiative aimed to help the construction and building industry experiencing skills shortages.  The scheme is designed to make it easier for skilled workers from both within Australia and overseas, to stay and work in Western Australia.

Under this program, eligible businesses can get grants of up to $10,000. This money helps cover costs like fees for migration agents, visa applications, and moving expenses for skilled workers coming to WA. Both qualifying employers and skilled worker visa applicants are eligible for payments.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Construction Visa Subsidy Program Employers must also be headquartered and undertaking building and construction work in Western Australia.

And employers must sponsor a skilled migrant in one of the following skilled visa sub classes

      • the Temporary Skill Shortage Subclass 482 visa,
      • the subclass 494 visa or
      • the subclass186 visa

What’s the Construction Visa Subsidy worth?

For Employers: If you’re eligible, you could receive payments of up to $10,000 per skilled migrant at three different stages:

      • $2,000 at Milestone 1
      • $4,000 at Milestone 2
      • Another $4,000 at Milestone 3

For Offshore Skilled Migrants: Skilled migrants who apply for their visa from offshore can also benefit. They could receive payments of up to $10,000 at two milestone points:

      • $5,000 at Milestone 1
      • $5,000 at Milestone 2

For Onshore Skilled Migrants: Skilled migrants who are already in Western Australia when the program starts can also get support. However, their payments are slightly adjusted to reflect lower costs:

      • $2,500 at Milestone 1
      • $2,500 at Milestone 2
